on insider build (currently 17040, issue older) have windows.old, windows.old(1), ... windows.old(4).  system disk cleanup has been done (and after each new build don't have disk space).  space reclaimed on cleanup expected.  these windows.old folders empty, or @ least appear so. if attempt manually delete of them popup saying "this folder no longer on c: drive....." what's going on these folders?  apparently have adequate permission manage them.  ideas? trevor happens if run "rd /s /q \\?\c:\windows.old" admin? tried setting insider preview on windows 10.  i selected fast ring , update 16251 came through.  it downloaded , installed.  i restarted requested.  the pc reloaded , screen showing percent completed came up.  still ok point.  now machine reached end , restarted again.  now bios popped message computer not boot , insert disk boot sector on hit ok proceed.  i put windows 10 disk in dvd player , try load windows 10 , say's can't start it.   reloaded , tried loading 16251 preview flash drive , went through loading scratch.  it got end main windows 10 screen should come , pc restarts , comes message again insert boot media.   do now?       bios popped message computer not boot , insert disk boot sector on hit ok proceed. unfortunately don't think fixes problem boot order.  e.g. may when have dvd first in boot order.   people change boot order away assumption in order try avoid delay caused testing empty dri

this seems "age old" problem insiders , retail users alike - many feedback hub reports countless up-votes appear have gone unanswered. on sunday 15th 1 of fortunate many (or perhaps should lucky few?) updated cleanly , without problem 16299.15 17017.1000 (i away while , missed .19 update) yet again drivers replaced versions! @ least 3 generations old this got..... this had.... installed recent direct download nvidia..... trying update proved useless.... along suggestion go , "retry" updates - again useless. i appreciate 6 weeks many short time microsoft update database of drivers 9 months!!! said, august 21 when drivers released after being signed off microsoft. drivers dated 2016 december 29? know lot can happen in 9 months.... more in world of technology!! surely it's not beyond capability of development team in microsoft find way prevent old versions of drivers overwriting newer versions? if not, needs
