i can co-author colleague via excel online if try edit in excel 2016, says locked colleague.
    does function not work cross-platform (ie. using on webapp , using on actual excel 2016)?

    thanks update in private message.
    i notice excel version 1705 (build 8201.2209) screenshot provided. i'd explain excel version not support co-authoring.   according   article, co-authoring feature feature released version 1707 (build 8326.2058) excel on windows desktop.  
  
  you can wait future release excel version supports co-authoring. if you'd feature now, can refer    article switch monthly channel. please test monthly channel office before deploying users on company.
    besides, i'd remind if 1 person open workbook version of excel doesn't support co-authoring, else "locked" error  —even if else using version of excel support co-authoring. please see why getting "file locked" error section in article:  collaborate on excel workbooks @   same time co-authoring.
