Shared Excel files opening as Read Only when shared through OneDrive - Microsoft Community

i trying figure out how use shareable link option allow recipients outside of company edit excel files share them. currently, when send link outside company, can open “read-only” version of file, when permissions link set “anyone can view , edit.” according support literature can find, should allow able edit file. not case, however, , wondering missing. appreciated.

it should be noted onedrive web interface. using business essentials licenses.

information in pm.

file shared me in .xls type , opened in read-only mode too. explain that, excel online support .xls file, when youself open file format, excel online convert newer .xlsx file. if share .xls file others, don't have permission create newer file on onedrive, file cannot reverted or edited side. 

suggest share .xlsx files external users check outcome. able edit .xlsx files if have edit permission.
