Vlookup won't return values that are there - Microsoft Community

my vlookup function doesn't find values in column when exist. i've tried repair formula nothing works.

 the formula in calculation sheet supposed lookup value in pe sheet misses every time. formula structured in such way if value not found returns "item not in c3 list".

here list of i've tried.

1- using clean purge information in both columns

2- making sure each column contains text

3- ordering in ascending order

4- making sure vlookup references properly

5- when copying making sure paste special -> values

anybody have idea might going wrong?

solved it.

turns out issue logic of formula instead of vlookups. vlookup either returns value searches or error, not true or false statement. in order wrapped in iserror() formula. once there dealt boolean logic , pretty straightforward.
