let me first tell trying , equipment trying with.
all want have one ip network security camera on home lan can view remotely our windows phones when away our home wifi , need use our data plan. sounds simple right ?, further down you'll see obstacles running !
here is our equipment:
ip camera: hikvision ds-2cd2342wd-i
the easy , simple solution if there windows phone client openvpn far know there not yet.
now (unless i'm mistaken) i'm finding out windows phones vpn option "l2tp on ipsec" requires vpn router have "l2tp on ipsec" server , seems consumer class vpn routers have openvpn servers windows phones can't connect , business class vpn routers have "l2tp on ipsec" server way expensive (over $200 , up) average home user on budget , me being retired on social security.
i have been asking on ip camera forum far safe solutions offered switching android phones (not option our windows phones new) or getting expensive business class router, not option being on budget on social security.
the other options work other mentioned said unsafe security-wise, , either port forwarding or using hikvision p2p camera viewing service.
i'm tech savvy in general, ip cameras , vpn new area me , i'm finding out tech industry not make easy when comes compatibility options windows phones.
it appreciated if network savvy techs @ router specs @ link above , offer other solution having working vpn connection our windows phones can remotely view our security camera thru data when away our home wifi.
thanks !
since router doesn't support l2tp vpn connection, adjustments on settings should done on l2tp interface. may contact l2tp server provider assistance.
regards.
