using ms office excel 2016, when using paste special, paste link function, why when copying blank cells (formatted date) 1 workbook , worksheet (i'll call "1st") , pasting link workbook , worksheet (i'll call "2nd") cells in workbook & worksheet filled "1/1/1900?" realize excel calculates cells formatted dates starting number 1 (1/1/1900), if 1st workbook , worksheet has no date, why 2nd workbook , worksheet filled date "1/1/1900" (1)?
can "1/1/1900" scenario avoided , if so, how? thank insight.

instead of copying block , pasting links, make 1 formula , copy same size block. the values update same - formula link, though it is not simple link results paste links.
when create link, type
=if(
and navigate other sheet , select top l;eft cell. press f4 until address changes form without $s (a1 instead of $a$1, example), type
=0,"",
and renavigate cell again, , press f4 a1 again, , type
)
and press enter.
