SharePoint List View Threshold Problems - Microsoft Community

so know question has been asked 1,000 times or more, have not been able figure out way around issue!

we have office 365 business sharepoint online subscription , trying create & use new customer list has on 13,000 customers. @ present, list has 3 columns (this may need change in future), customer number, customer name , region (2 or 3 letter code). can create list , navigate through pages, , run searches customer number or name , results items. have indexed customer number & customer names columns maybe why can search items.

however, have separate document library uses lookup column needs @ customer list select customer uploaded document belongs to. when try upload document library, instead of getting drop-down list of customers, below message:

"this lookup column displays data list exceeds list view threshold defined administrator (5000)."

i have tried creating filtered view based on indexed columns, however:

1. don't think possible use filtered view lookup/drop-down list select customer lookup looking @ items in list column.

2. have on 13k unique customers, filtered list still going return on lvt of 5,000 items, therefore displaying error , preventing customer being selected in drop-down list.

as test, have tried work list has 5,000 items , works fine. add 1 more item list, issue starts.

does have advice on how can overcome issue?

hi glenn,

i understand situation. since there’s no option afaik , if wish, can vote in sharepoint uservoice user created thread same requirement.

remove list view threshold (5000 default)
