PV function in microsoft excel - Microsoft Community


hi, 

 how pv function work if nper not integer? rate annual number (1.75%), nper 2.5, pmt =-1 , payments made end of period (or in other words formula = pv(1.75%, 2.5, -1). how microsoft come present value of 2.454 problem. not able reproduce results using following formula 1/(1+.0175)^1+ 1/(1+.0175)^2 +.5/(1+.0175)^2.5. thanks.

the math formula in pv page, shown below demonstration of calculation.

the formula in a5 based on math formula above, solving pv.  note "type" , "fv" zero.

i did not try figure out mistake.
