How to multiply a cell to get to a specific value? - Microsoft Community

hello,

sorry if basic, i'm not versed in formulas excel. trying format spreadsheet input numbers in h#, it'll output number in k#. right now, numbers in h specific price, , price corresponds value of 250 units, 500 units, etc. depending on value relative price, want value reach 1000. had multiplying value , price 2 if given value of 500, getting values stray need able multiply different numbers.

so, original line of code would've been =h#*2 if quantity value 500, h# multiplied whatever takes quantity value 1000.

if worded strangely , incomprehensible, gladly try reword it.

thanks in advanced,

andrew

where numbers "250, 500, etc" stored?

assuming in column g, try following formula in cell k2 , copy down far have data in columns g , h:

=h2*(1000/g2)

example of input data in columns g , h , output data in column k:

g2: 250   h2: 130   k2: 520

g3: 500   h3: 250   k3: 500

hope helps / lars-Åke
