How to add an email alias to an O365 group? - Microsoft Community

i need add alias email addresses o365 groups. issue has been suggested o365 development team new feature. reportedly possible add alias email addresses o365 group using exchange online powershell.

the directions suppose located in ms technet link:

(1) can see "alias" mentioned in parameters.

as states, alias parameter specifies exchange alias (also known mail nickname) office 365 group. value identifies recipient mail-enabled object, , shouldn't confused multiple email addresses same recipient (also known proxy addresses). a recipient can have 1 alias value.

based on last statement, believe o365 group must use internal standard create such id. inspection of test o365 group looks "*** email address removed privacy ***".

obviously 1 alias value allowed, , set automatically during group creation, doesn't help.

(2) later "emailaddresses" parameter mentioned. plural use of word gave me hope.

as stated via link, emailaddresses parameter specifies all email addresses (proxy addresses) recipient, including primary smtp address. however, can use parameter configure other proxy addresses recipient. syntax includes ability add multiple smtp email addresses.

based on details looks add alias email addresses o365 group using exchange online powershell!

so (finally), question how use exchange online powershell give such commands o365 group? link states command, examples don't give details... recipe... or instructions.

i have googled, , search, , read, using powershell in such way totally foreign me. myself, , others need complete common task, please explain in detail how execute command?

please follow instructions achieve requirements:

1 . connect exchange online powershell. please refer link: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj984289(v=exchg.160).aspx

2 . use cmdlet add alias groups: set-unifiedgroup –identitygroup *** email address removed privacy *** –emailaddresses @{add="*** email address removed privacy ***"}

then can use cmdlet check whether have add successfully: get-unifiedgroup –identity *** email address removed privacy *** | fl emailaddresses
