Multiple instances of Edge running in task manager - Microsoft Community

 i seem have between 6 , 8 instances of edge running on system. if try , close down of them, start again. close the, don't seem affect edge @ all?

 some instances of using around 300meg of ram, while several show zero. have seen mentioned extensions can cause this. vanilla edge nothing added @ all. started using edge did improve battery life on surface pro 4. issue doesn't help, , browsers firefox or chrome using less resources. thanks.

issue you're experiencing edge running in task manager multiple times, might due variety of reasons. might due has been done before issue occurred, or due corrupted system files.

being said, please provide answers following learn more why you're experiencing kind of issue:

  • is windows 10 updated?
  • what recent changes made before issue started?
  • what troubleshooting steps you've done?

in meantime, may run windows apps troubleshooter find , repair problems windows applications, including edge.

may perform clean boot to make sure no application causing issue. clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts occur when running or installing program in windows 10.
note: please go through section: how reset computer start usual after troubleshooting clean boot of kb article boot computer in normal startup after fixing issue.
