Jump list not working with Excel - Microsoft Community

i have several files pinned excel icon in taskbar. when try open these left click window pops saying item unavailable , might have been moved, renamed or deleted, none of case.

if right click on 1 of files, window opens , 1 of options open file. left click on option opens file normal.  happening here? i'm using windows 10 home v 1703 , excel 2007 on emachines em355 netbook .

i have tried deleting , re-pinning excel taskbar various excel files without success. testing word 2007, same thing, works other files pinned other icons on taskbar.
