Downloading files from Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Community

when trying download files or programs microsoft edge, end option of saving text document.  when click "open" not run program or open file, rather has me save text document. 

this same issue not happening when download attachments in outlook, operating normally. there need download setting in edge?

we replicated task on our end , if work fine. when attachments clicked, directed separate page preview of file , presented option download it. affect attachments?

for initial troubleshooting, repair or reset app. go settings > apps > apps & features > microsoft edge > advanced options.
