problems opening files - Microsoft Community

something has happened on computer excel files in documents' folder have changed icon excel internet explorer symbol, cant open document.  though have excel on computer

please perform following steps check outcome:

1. right click on excel file > click on properties > on general tab, click on change, select excel as default app open file.

2. if excel 2016 not listed option open file, should manually navigate your excel.exe file. click on more apps > scroll down until last option, click the app on pc > navigate c:\ drive microsoft office installed(c:\program files (x86)\microsoft office\root\office16) , search excel > open excel application, use default option file.

if issue persists, confirm following information:

1. screenshot when right click on excel file > properties.
2. please double click on file ie symbol > click open , can open it? , please capture screenshot regarding " cant open document".
3. screenshot of office version using. it, open office application, click file > account > under product information.
