Why do my children Excel workbooks' cell reference links break - Microsoft Community

problem:

1. i'm having issue when referencing cell in different workbook. 
2. when use ='[workbook.xlsx]general'!d37 reference child workbook.xlsx works fine...
3. randomly (i think), formula changes/updates ... ='https://d.docs.live.net...........[workbook.xlsx]general'!d37

background:
-we use onedrive store our workbooks

-we store our master .xlsm , children .xlsx files in same directory

question:
-why #3 "problem" keep happening?

goal:
-to have our master workbook pull multiple children workbooks, , create master report based on children workbook data that's being pulled master.
-to have our master workbook push product information children workbooks, don't have redefine products 1-by-1-by-1...

-to sync our parent.xlsm , children.xlsx workbooks onedrive

-ultimately, save ton of time , quote customers big projects faster
