lumia640 camera problem - Microsoft Community

hi there,

the camera app on lumia640xl had problem in saving hdr photos; the"saving..."message shown after taking few hdrs , take several minutes disappear; after that, the hdr photos deleted gallery automatically.

i've searched comments in microsoft questions, seems many others have same problem. i've done reset, nothing has changed.

maybe app needs update! :-(

#would me solve problem, if had same experience?

it known bug. present in versions of camera app (even lumia camera app shipped nokia 2+ years ago) , not fixed ever since. general recommended fix 1 or combination of following:

  • restart phone
  • hard reset
  • reinstall/fix/reset camera app (impossible @ latest version of os)
  • change apps , photos saved - device instead of sd card

my general response however:

  • give up

none of previous solutions ever worked neither me or friends lumia phones. responses on feedback hub (during times when ms staff eager respond) in same way: soft reset, hard reset, or not use feature. none of ever worked, , when pointed out in original feedback, repeated same answer, despite failed attempts being explicitly stated in feedback.

i believe problem in software architecture of app , "background" computing processes renders tasks of "background computation" of such data highly unreliable, or such reliable implementation difficult implement. staggering is, however, intermediate files captured (*.nrg) in fact saved after capture, when "background" hdr process (that tries stick photos produce hdr photo) delete them after failed attempt - clean mess after itself. functionality had programatically implemented - looks ms developers decided delete data cover mistakes of app, instead of fixing mistake. worst thing if lucky , copy on nrg files right after capture , before "background" hdr process starts handle them, can recover input images hdr process, can hdr stitching on pc. impossible because files being deleted when hdr stitching process fails.
