Problem opening Office 2016 files - Microsoft Community

i installed office 2016 home & student. previous version office 2007. problem: when try open word or excel file using file explorer or right clicking on shortcut (which have pinned taskbar) , selecting recent file, file tries (unsuccessfully) open in 2007 program. however, if open word or excel 2016 , open same file file menu, opens 2016 file. same thing happens whether try open file created 2016 or 2007 applications.

i have tried "save as" make sure files being saved in newer version. have tried using "open with." neither way has worked; files still try open in 2007. have confirmed office 2016 default program opening these files.

it appears office 2007 still installed on computer (going see in apps & features window). files open in office 2016. suggestions? uninstalling office 2007 help? thanks.

we're glad hear files can open without issues. regarding office 2007, may still proceed deleting using control panel. kindly refer again link provided steps.
