in our o365 subscription, 19 clients business pro (bp) , have e3 subscription. when bp clients perform search email message within (desktop) outlook, search works fine returns results deleted email if email beyond retention period , has been physically purged. checked settings , deleted items folder unchecked. normal behavior? if not, such corrupted index? e3 client not this. have physically in deleted items folder return results , there has deleted items in folder no matter mailbox item select dropdown list.

does issue happen users in organization? have checked setting in search?
meanwhile, use admin account log exchange admin center> recipients> mailboxes> double click 1 of them> mailbox features> check whether s/he assigned retention policy or enabled archive.
then, when emails show in search results in outlook client, hover mouse on message, can see folder message belongs to. let know that.
