Microsoft Applications Not Responding When Editing Features are Used - Microsoft Community

having issue whenever go editing tabs , options other "home" when in word , excel (i have not attempted powerpoint or onenote). had lagged before, now, when trying add feature or edit document, application becomes unresponsive, frozen , rainbow wheel of death. have 2016 mac , uninstalled , reinstalled. specific example when click "mailings" , "labels" normal box , options not show. screen freezes , no buttons useable. case other tabs , options well. there have been no issues in typing in new document, making setting changes causes problem. forced "force quit" out of application. why happening , how can solve problem?
