i aghast @ excel vba documentation.  here excerpts arguments range.find method:

• searchorder: can 1 of following xlsearchorder constants: xlbyrows or xlbycolumns
  • does mean rows increment within column first, or vice-versa?
  • what default?
• lookin: the type of information.
• searchformat: the search format.

is there more authoritative source of documentation?

i gave on vba (and excel help) long ago. internet search , gets lots of info.
