Vlookup error - Microsoft Community

hi. 'm trying simple vlookup table it's not working. i'm trying reference cell value directly lookup value gives me #na error.  =vlookup(b5,statlabour,3,0)   however, when type value of reference cell instead, this:  =vlookup("1024",statlabour,3,0), value i'm looking for. i've tried switching reference cell format general or number makes no difference. there's no problem range , lookup column, otherwise formula wouldn't work when type in text of reference cell. i've done lookup formulas before no problem using cell reference lookup value, , can't understand why it's not working now. can frustrating problem? 

seems values text in statlabour. in case, use below formula -

=vlookup(text(b5,"0"),statlabour,3,0)
