 i receiving "sharing violation" error when trying rename , save read-only file.   saw post 2010 answer:

try disabling index option on folder.   right click on affected folder (where file giving error located), choose properties. click "advanced" button near bottom. uncheck "allow indexing" box.

i have tried , did not work.  i have changed properties open protected file feature enable editing, when enable changes read-only file.  

this change occurred , of old files open read-only.  i can't create new file without saving read-only.  how can corrected?

the “sharing violation” error you’ve encountered when tried rename , save excel file can caused changes made security settings of file or antivirus running on device blocking it. isolate concern, we’d ask following questions:

  • are using device running on windows? if yes, version of windows installed there? type winver in search box information.
  • are there third-party antivirus software installed on device?
  • have tried updating version of office excel? this, check steps on link. check result after installing updates.
