Assignments in Teams - Microsoft Community

can microsoft please restore assignment feature allowed students turn-in assignment without having +add assignment?  last year, in classroom, able upload word document assignment, students opened it, completed (edited) document , clicked "turn-in".  seamless , did not require students download document upload version of document.  cumbersome. used praise ease of assignments.
