Office Home & Student 2016 keeps asking for activation - Microsoft Community

hello,

i purchased office home & student 2016 (the one-time purchase) , downloaded installer , worked little while.

but opened @ got message:

which unexpected since i'd never used pro plus 2016 on laptop. have @ work, not on personal machine.

i uninstalled office control panel, used easy fix tool (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/uninstall-office-from-a-pc-9dd49b83-264a-477a-8fcc-2fdf5dbf61d8?ui=en-us&rs=en-us&ad=us) said found remnant of (maybe trial version laptop shipped with?) , removed it.

i redownloaded installer microsoft website , tried again.

same result , error message.

i entered product key home & student 2016 purchase microsoft account page, got error again.

any suggestions?

please try following:

resetting office activation

open command prompt , navigate following folder

c:\program files (x86)\microsoft office\office15
c:\program files\microsoft office\office15

run cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus

observe results , uninstall each product key

cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:<last 5 chars of product key shown in dstatus>

uninstall office.

re-install office


Office / Install, upgrade and activate / Windows 10 / Office 2016
