AutoSave switch greyed-out. - Microsoft Community

a couple of days ago, noticed save icon @ top of excel window in version 1707 of office 365 has been moved little right because new greyed-out autosave button has appeared. set "off". 

does know how turn on?

"autosave enabled when working on file saved onedrive, onedrive business, or sharepoint online. if file saved location, autosave disabled. happen if file on sharepoint on premises site, file server, or saved local path c:\.

there other reasons autosave disabled well. example, if file in older format .xls, .ppt, or .doc., disabled. disabled if presentation in slide show mode, or if workbook contains password protection. if autosave disabled, can hover on autosave switch , tooltip tell why it's off."
