Embedded Word Document In Excel Icon Issues - Microsoft Community

i've embedded word document excel file. works great, however, looks ugly.

my main issues are:

• when click on word file's icon, icon shows bounding box around it.
• the word file's icon can resized , repositioned anywhere in excel document. 

so, questions are:

• how rid of bounding box?
• right embedded word file seems "hovering" on excel file rather contained within cell. how file icon content of cell?
• finally, once above has been achieved, how lock icons size , position inside the cell?

a couple of points:

first & foremost: objects cannot inserted cells... period. tina attempted describe other 'tutorials' find may well-intended misrepresentation of being done. essentially, object can locked position on sheet appears contained within cell. in truth, object still floats on surface of sheet.

second: keeping object anchored in place requires 2 conditions:

1. the object's locked property must checked in format object - protection dialog, &
2. protection must applied sheet

as you've found, however, protection enabled object icon rendered static graphic & cannot opened.

although isn't want, option can suggest insert hyperlink document in cell... icon included hyperlink in adjacent cell. hyperlink work when protection enabled preserve positioning of icon. down side of method, though, copy of document not embedded in excel file, copy of document must travel workbook.
