daughter's mac has died , hard drive has been removed save data till can retrieve it. has bought new macbookpro , wants put office mac 2011 home , student onto it. has no dvd/cd slot. i have found 2011 office box/cd , important key. simple download copy onto new mac. have found pointers worried fruitless exercise , may better buy new copy. advice welcome.
in practice should able install office 2011 on new machine. office 2011 reaching end of support cycle ms next month, oct 2017. @ point ms no longer provide updates fix problems, security bugs. bottom line, time pay new version of office (sorry).

you should able copy files installation disk usb drive or onedrive. can copy them new computer , run install normally.
you not want run installation usb drive because install process creates , deletes lot of temp files, "wearing out" usb drive unnecessarily.
there mac site can downoad install from, i'll let else provide it.
