Aggregate functions solutions before upsizing to sql server - Microsoft Community

in lot of controls of forms , reports have used dlookup, dmax , dcount.

at siuation aggregate function based directly on table , on situation based on query.

as planning going on upgrade sql. therefore, want clarify in details there changes required related aggregate functions.

if yes, please advice, aggregate functions should based on tables or query.

this homeworks avoid later problems.

regards

we don't recommend generate own sequential number using dmax+1 technique or other way, unless there special case, here there not. 99% of developers do: use autonumber column, or in sql serve integer column identity property set yes.

the other examples harmless , continue work fine, against sql server linked tables.

one note of caution summing built reports can have sum rather dsum, example in report footer when summing totals of each row.
