Restoring default cell formatting patterns - Microsoft Community

how restore default fill pattern style selection of cells? applied white / blank pattern under format cells / fill / pattern style , removed gridlines screen (but not printed versions). restore gridlines screen. (note not work turn gridlines on or off overall under page layout because applies entire sheet , doesn't affect the area selected change cell fill pattern.)

select range of cells, on home tab in cell styles gallery click normal - if appears selected.

essentially, method used directly changed of formatting cells normal style still applied. normal style, itself, has not been modified - has been overridden. reapplying style restore default attributes.
