Notebook suddenly fails to sync: "We need the password to sync - Microsoft Community

i have notebook, 1 of 30, started failing sync today.  i've been using daily 6 months.  nothing irregular far activity, entering text notes.

sync error is:

"we need password sync notebook. (error code: 0xe4010647)"

i've restarted app, rebooted pc, still no joy.  at 1 point, 2 notebooks failing sync.  after app restart 2nd 1 had no issues.  this 1 failure persists.

thread cover experience well?
