some colors in some cells change if I close Excel - Microsoft Community

my problem colors in cells change if close excel. if save , close file , reopen (without closing excel) formatting , colors survive if close excel , reopen excel of colors in of cells change, black. cells have multiple names typed in them , different colors indicate if people have paid in full or deposit or cancelled etc excel changing colors driving me crazy! when spreadsheet set font size 9, cells changed colors changed font size 10 made more work manually correcting colors , font sizes have changed font size 10 entire spreadsheet still have random (?) colour changes happening.

please help.

i believe that it might be associated known problem being addressed. see following link , go down to"issues affecting excel features , add-ins" , of posting this, second 1 in list.

however, testing indicates problem may have been fixed recent updates though not indicated @ link provided. ensure have latest office updates follows

  • open excel blank workbook
  • select file -> account
  • click update options -> update now
  • if update available download , might need confirm close open office apps.
  • if update takes place, repeat above until message "you're date"
