Microsoft Office won't let me save - Microsoft Community


hi, 

i'm on macbook bro office 365 activated, however, when try save documents on word, powerpoint or excel says "you not have permission save files location". 

the location want desktop, have tried folders , usb stick won't let me save anywhere.

how can fix problem?

from description, seems issue happens on file , folder.

 

if yes, provide , confirm following.

1. upload screenshots showing symptoms of issue.

2. check if files can saved on mac or online.

3. upload screenshots of pages showing version information of excel 2016 mac, word 2016 mac , powerpoint 2016 mac applications using.

 

given situation, suggest confirm , try following see outcome.

1. follow steps described in article , test again.

2. follow steps below.

a. restart mac.

b. after mac shuts down , makes startup chime, hold down command-r boot recovery mode.

c. after recovery screen appears, select menu item utilties > terminal.

d. type resetpassword and press return.

e. dialog appears can select startup volume if it’s not selected default.

f. pick username select user account dropdown menu.

g. in lower-right corner of screen, click reset next reset home directory permissions , acls area.

h. choose file>quit, , in main recovery window, choose restart.

3. check if file names include “\” marks. if yes, rename them , save again. can rename file names , test again.
