Site Hierarchy - Microsoft Community

i 0365 site admin , i'm trying handle on sharepoint hierarchies. when got admin center>sharepoint taken sharepoint admin center in office 365. following listed, company name our actual company name - doesn't same company name:

  • companyname.sharepoint.com
  • companyname.sharepoint.com/portals/community
  • companyname.sharepoint.com/portals/hub
  • companyname.sharepoint/search
  • companyname.sharepoint/sites/pwa
  • companyname-my.sharepoint.com
  • companyname-public.sharepoint.com

when go our team site (the site automatically created upon signing office 365) , @ site hierarchy see 6 subsites. these subsites demo sites have been created.

i have created new sites in sharepoint clicking "+ create site" button on main sharepoint page in office 365. none of these sites show under team site mentioned above's site hierarchy. though team site root site , other sites subsites of team site.

are sites create on sharepoint main screen in office 365 clicking "+ create site" independent form default team site created sharepoint.

is there harm in deleting team site. no 1 uses it.

any sharepoint hierarchy helpful

hi michael,

please note site collections different sites.
sites listed in sharepoint admin center (as listed above) site collections.

e.g. yourcompany.sharepoint.com teamsite site collection.

what's more, if url contains /sites/, site collection.
see also: create or delete site collection

if had created site in /_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx, site created might groupsite site collection.

to view sharepoint hierarchies 1 site collection, please enable tree view at:
/_layouts/15/navoptions.aspx

to check site's subsite, please click gear > site contents > subsites.

delete site (no harmful in case), see
delete sharepoint site or subsite

thanks,
jim
