Start menu, Cortana, Edge, maybe others failing after updating to - Microsoft Community


on primary domain account, none of these working. running start menu diagnostic said both start menu database corrupt , required applications not installed correctly, , neither fixed. found other posts mentioned creating new account, , copying tilelayer database account, apparently implementation of functionality has changed , tile database somewhere else... else having similar issues , if there fix. (other accounts work fine, primary account , don't want tear things down , rebuild should such minor issue.)

it profile you're using corrupted. since mentioned you've tried different profile matter, suggest perform clean boot process.clean boot temporarily disables third party applications microsoft non-essential services basic drivers run. find third-party software can cause of issue. here steps: 

  1. from start, search for msconfig
  2. select system configuration from search results. 
  3. on the services tab of system configuration dialog box, tap or click select the hide microsoft services check box, , tap or click disable all. 
  4. on the startup tab of system configuration dialog box, tap or click open task manager. 
  5. on the startup tab in task manager, each startup item, select item , click disable. 
  6. close task manager. 
  7. on startup tab of system configuration dialog box, tap or click ok, , restart computer.

however, if works on test profile, kindly login user profile using perform safe mode.
