"This document could not be opened for editing" Office 2016 - Microsoft Community

hi,

got error message ("this document not opened editing") when i'm trying edit excel document inside of sharepoint. office version home & business 2016. basicaly have tried everything, didn't me (also tested on computer same parameters , same office version worked fine). tried change browser's , of them (ie, edge, firefox, chrome) got same error. information found older versions of office , solution didn't me.

based on description, understand select workbook in sharepoint document library, click open > open in excel (see screenshot below), , encounter issue. 

 

please refer to download , check files locally section of  this article open , edit workbook,  and share outcome.

 

besides, better understand situation, please provide following information:

1. screenshot of error message “this document not opened editing”.

2. if misunderstood, please provide detailed steps , related screenshots how encounter error message.

3. issue occur workbooks in sharepoint library? can edit workbook in browser?

4. when open workbook on computer, signed in same account in excel 2016 on computer?

5. office version on computer , computer.  for office version, please click file > account > product information, , capture screenshot of product information both computers.
