your comments have been useful , feel there.  i able make shortcut work word (selectdrawingobjects).  but real need able select multiple objects in excel on mac.  i created shortcuts using mac system preferences (as directed elsewhere) can't seem make shortcut work selecting multiple objects in excel (though able make other shortcuts work in excel).

as said, select objects command has not been removed  - happen know exact name of command use or how make work in excel on mac.

there no longer comparable in excel.

the alternative use selection pane can displayed clicking button in arrange group of contextual [object type] format tab appears when object selected. selection pane command can added qat.

when displayed selection pane can used to:

  • give meaningful name each object
  • determine objects show/hide @ given time
  • select multiple consecutive objects using shift-click
  • select nonconsecutive objects using command+click
  • rearrange order in objects listed

the pane lists object types including charts & smartart diagrams, not pictures & drawn shapes. selection pane available in word & powerpoint.
