Opening existing files - Microsoft Community

i want able open excel files on computer directly. when click saved file, doesn't open. instead excel opens totally blank page , have click file>open tab , search file want open. sometimes in recent list but, frequently, have find correct folder stored , find file want.
this many steps. it used open file immediately, word does. there must setting needs fixed, can't find it.
please help.
try usual fix(es) problem.
excel options>advanced>general uncheck "ignore other applications"
exit excel , try again
if doesn't work try re-register excel
close excel first , on windows taskbar
1) start>run "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)>ok.
2) start>run "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>ok.
see space between exe , /regserver
you might have designate full path excel.exe.
in case start>run "c:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)>ok.
