Sluggish computer and Microsoft edge - Microsoft Community

use desktop , when went use it was extremely slow , laggard.  went task manager , noticed using 100% cpu , 99% memory.   seeing turned computer on , not running programs, couldn't understand using much.  looked , noticed had 10 microsoftedge.exe running.  stopped 8 of them showed again.  need many running , if not happened? 

was windows update downloading , updating?
