OneNote default notebook location empty - Microsoft Community

when go onenote file > options >save & backup default notebook location set c:\users\me\documents\onenote notebooks.  when go location folder empty.  0 bytes.  have checked location of backup folder   -  c:\users\me\appdata\local\microsoft\onenote  -   and contents there.  notebooks being stored if default location empty?

have onedrive connected onenote? check onedrive notebooks , see if there.
