trying result if column contains lookup 1 way or if way in area

this formula half working if column b contains 3 letters gives me false. when linking spreadsheet access result being true or false not result after.

=if(b376,"abc",lookup(d376,fullname,payrollcode))

trying formula give result if b376,"zyx" lookup d376,vectora,vectorb

but can't formula accept

what trying do?  show dataset , expected result.
