Pass or Fail in Excel - Microsoft Community

i'm having issue formula pass or fail.

i have 2 cells relating telephone calls, 1 being inbound call, other outbound call. person marked on 1 or other, 1 cell filled in.

if person passes call, receive p, if fail receive f.

the issue i'm having need box result remain blank, unless f or p filled in. can achieve 1 of cells using formula =if(f6="","",if(f6="p","passed","failed")). the problem need formula pick cell g6.

so there formula can used if box f6 , g6 empty box h6 blank. if put p in box f6 , g6 remained blank, h6 passed. if put f in g6 , f6 remained blank, h6 failed.

i've attached images show formula working when p entered in f6 and not working when entered in g6.

any great

i read as: f6 can be blank, p or f; g6 can blank, p or f.

both cells blank, 1 cell non-blank

this being case try

=if(or(f6="p",g6="p"),"passed", if(or(f6="f",g6="f"),"fail",""))

best wishes
