All my excel files have suddenly become Read only files - Microsoft Community

in last couple of days excel 2016 files when open them showing read only. have not done far know change this. word seems fine. cannot create new document!

when try , edit , save document creates blank file have never seen before. thing have downloaded avg anti-virus.

please help.

since issue occurred after installing antivirus, may need remove program check if issue resolved.

if same issue persists, kindly follow steps below repair office programs further isolate root cause.

  1. right-click start button (lower-left corner), , select programs , features on pop-up menu.
  2. right-click microsoft office product want repair, , select change.
  3. from "how repair office programs" screen, select online repair make sure gets fixed, , select repair. quick repair option available, runs faster detects , replaces corrupted files.
  4. follow instructions on screen complete.
