i have excel 15.39 , mac os 10.13 , still have problem.

feel free let know if exhibits same behavior on other workbooks. please trying creating new blank workbook check well.

 

if happens 1 workbook, issue should workbook issue, not related excel program. in situation, suggest copy contents problematic workbook new blank workbook or recreating workbook.

 

if happens workbooks, feel free let know other information @ convenience after tried them:

1.  try copy other sources word , outlook.

2.  try copy same contents other office programs.

 

besides, sorry unclear question. trying confirm if double-click on cell , right-click select paste paste contents cell, since based on test behavior differs if double-click on cell , paste or not. if double-click cell , paste, remove texts format , make them plain texts. tried paste same texts word excel via different ways, please see result below:
