Unable to open excel files saved on PC - Microsoft Community

hi

brief history.  previous pc has crashed had same problem last few months on system.  have got new pc have used hard drive load saved files.  have loaded office home , student 2010 on new system.  new system running on windows 10 home.

my saved documents open ok (word, pdf, pictures etc.) except excel documents.  have tried numerous suggestions on searches have done, of have failed work. have re loaded office.  have tried open option, excel not displayed app open, have somehow managed symbol excel display , ticked display symbol, still not allow me open them (the symbol different in appearance old symbol used open files!).  have opened excel - options - advanced - display - , box disable hardware graphics acceleration not ticked.

i able open excel documents if open excel , go file - open - documents - select doc , click.  therefore know files have transferred ok.  pain keep accessing way.

anyone got further ideas?

this on windows 10

go excel document not open > right click > open > choose app > more options > app on pc > local disc > program files (x86) > microsoft office > office 14 > excel > tick box use app open .xlsx files

this has taken days sort , have sorted.
