i haven't used internet explorer years , thought i'd give try again. upgraded latest version 11. ponderous vast understatement. i'm using 2 gb of 800 mhz ddr2 ram on 1.8 ghz intel dual core cpu. know ancient , should have been retired long ago. anyway, websites, works fine in old opera 12.18, newer chrome or firefox. in ie 11 unbelievably slow. can't close tab quickly. takes several seconds. ram? on page can't backspace few times before freezes few seconds. never realized backspacing can resource intensive! know wrong?

1. open run [windows logo key + r] type in iexplore.exe -extoff (iexplore.exe<space>-extoff) hit enter. open internet explorer in no add-ons mode. any change? if problem gone troubleshoot add-ons find troublesome one.

(old article troubleshooting procedure same)
2. internet options> general tab> browsing history> delete> uncheck "preserve favorites website data" delete temporary internet files. no reason, yet, delete cookies, history, passwords, etc.
