Disable Tab Preview in Microsoft Edge. Yet another feature that - Microsoft Community

users should allowed toggle on , off features.. don't need see thumbnail of tab.  tab preview time waster , screen space hogger in event accidently click on it.

is there way remove tab preview microsoft edge?

p.s. microsoft edge running review (hate it) use points , basic tasks.

inexplicably closes. (i use split screen , multiple tabs , can use firefox or chrome , more resource intensive tasks without web browsers crashing) (it doesn't seem hot keys don't experience inexplicable close on other programs).

microsoft edge freezes. (firefox , chrome more stable.)

hiding portions of url.  not every website begins http://www. e.g. abcnews.go.com.  hiding www or http irritating distance learner cites websites , online periodicals coursework.

p.p.s. windows 10: had turned off cortana before anniversary update, seems cortana on. i've tried restrict intrusion privacy, fact cortana on when had turned off unethical. happy simple keyword search.  there no need collect data such searches.

about concern on turning off tab preview, may follow steps below disable it:

  1. close edge > press windows key + r > type regedit >  click ok.
  2. browse following path: hkey_current_user\software\classes\local settings\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\appcontainer\storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\microsoftedge\tabbedbrowsing
  3. right-click tabbedbrowsing on right panel > go new > select dword (32-bit) value.
  4. name new key tabpeekenabled > click ok > double-click newly created key , set 0.
  5. click ok > close registry editor.

regarding concern on edge, freezing. recommend clear cache , cookies in edge, follow steps below:

  1. open edge > click three dot icon (more settings) > go settings.
  2. select choose clear under clear browsing data > click drop-down on show less check boxes.
  3. hit on clear > close edge , see if issue still occurs.

to disable cortana, follow these steps:

  1. open cortana > go cortana settings > switch option under cortana off.
  2. go settings > privacy > go speech, inking, & typing > click on stop getting know me.
