Cannot switch to the current channel. - Microsoft Community

hello, took @ article , ran tool "fix" problem of being on deferred channel current channel.  it went through process of closing out apps , updating build number.  however, still shows although office date, still on deferred channel.

is portal setting driving deferred setting?  i have rebooted test machine twice , still shows deferred channel office date.  anyone else having problem?

please access registry editor in windows , navigate to:

computer\hkey_local_machine\software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\common\officeupdate

and add string value updatebranch and fill in data current.

then, open office , try checking updates.
