Excel 2016 crashes when I try to edit text of a shape - Microsoft Community

hello- running excel 2016, 64bit on windows 10 pro, 8gb ram.

context: insert shape (e.g., rectangle) insert -> shapes, right-click 'edit text' - , type word, , click on cell in sheet.

results: no text entered shape, , excel crashes below error message. interesting note _am_ running 64-bit.

things have tried, have not helped:

1) run excel in safe-mode

2) disable graphics acceleration

3) re-install/repair office suite

has else seen this? ideas workaround or resolve?

there possible reasons concern happening. 1 of possible reasons memory used while app open. though have better view of concern, kindly answer following questions:

• when did concern started happening?

a few weeks ago, had not been trying previously, if asking determine whether have installed / changed may suggest cause, - no have not.

• do encounter same concern if insert shapes on other office apps?

no, excel. works great in powerpoint , word.

• can provide screenshot of task manager showing processes , percentage used while excel open?

this helped me find problem- thank this. seems company has background software process creating kind of conflict. did not notice competing in resources @ same time excel until suggested @ task manager - _other_ processes.

anyway, thank help. resolved now.
